The Mississauga Ice Warriors Minor Midget hockey team traveled to Scandinavia over the Christmas break to play three friendly games in Finland, one in Sweden and participated in a division 1 AAA tournament in Stockholm, Sweden. The team was accompanied by the president of the GTHL – John Gardner.
The tour embarked for Helsinki on the 26th of December. The team landed in Helsinki on the afternoon of the 27th checked into their hotel and headed straight to practice. Throughout the 12 day tour they visited many attractions in both countries and played some very competitive hockey. The Warriors won the tournament in Sweden by winning 6 straight difficult games and returned home as champions on January 5th. The duo of Justin Demkiw and Kyle MacDonald lead the way between the pipes with Justin being awarded the number one goalie in all categories of the tournament. The scoring was spread out throughout the team with Connor Morrison leading the way in total points and Luke Ewach with the best plus/minus.
A total of 41 parents, family members and players made the journey across the pond.
The memories will last a lifetime.
